MEMBERS of Billericay Striders will be sending £500 to local charity Hamelin House thanks to the club's 100-mile relay race on Saturday.
Every year the town's popular running club stages the event with one or more members clocking up the distance on two-mile laps on a route which included the High Street.
The long relay started and ended outside the offices of Peter J. Murray's office where Mr Grant thanked everybody who took part and the public who gave so generously.
"18 Striders took part overall, with members doing multiple laps and we even provided sweets for children," he said.
"We had a six-hour presence in the High Street. It was a successful day."
